Frequently Asked Questions

Here, we regularly add the questions (and answers!) that are most frequently asked by our users.

We take care of everything! You don’t need any software on your personal or company computer. The HyFlex@isae-supaero system is completely autonomous, notably in terms of the audiovisual production for your course and web conference, and the recording services. You can connect your equipment to the system by just using your digital output in HDMI format.

The only way to connect your computer to the HyFlex@isae-supaero system is to use the digital audiovisual output in HDMI format. We suggest the Standard HDMI plug, but an adapter can be used to connect many digital plugs that equip most laptops today.

If you forget your adapter, ask your HyFlex console operator or the study inspector, who may be able to help you out.

Once connected, your computer should detect the system as a new screen ("HDMI, Displayport or Elgato capture card" may appear). We recommend that you configure you system with "mirror" mode. Also, don’t forget to configure your output to the capture card for the sound your computer sends out to the loudspeakers in the classroom (choose "HDMI, Displayport or Elgato capture card").

There are several ways of interacting with remote students if you have chosen LIVE or LIVE+REC mode. With the web conference set up in one of these modes, you can interact in real time with distance learners.

First of all, you can have oral and visual exchanges by using the possibilities offered by web conferencing. For this, use the TOGETHER key to display the images of the students connected. We also advise you to turn the camera toward the students in the classroom to capture their image and their voices if they ask questions. Don’t forget to systematically reformulate questions before answering them.

If you use your personal computer and you have an ISAE-SUPAERO account, you can also use interactive applications such as IQuiz, SpeakUp, Framemo or Framapad, available on the classroom’s access page, accessible through the LMS pedagogical platform. These applications, respectively, will let you:
- ask open-ended/closed ended questions,
- gather written questions,
- collaborate on digital "post-its",
- edit a document with several contributors.

The HyFlex@isae-supaero system’s console does not provide access to advanced ZOOM functions for reasons of system automation, security and robustness. However, nothing stops you from participating in the web conference with your laptop and using it to access certain functions that remain open, such as instant messaging.

Using HyFlex firstly means that you are a permanent professor or contract teacher at the Institute. You must also sign the HyFlex@isae-supaero contract for the transfer of copyrights and the right of personal portrayal (contact the study inspector at the program you are working for). Lastly, a course must be listed on the class schedule for the system to work (unless it is used locally with the video projector, for which there are no conditions).

In compliance with the HyFlex@isae-supaero contract that you are required to sign before using the system, recordings are available to students for 72 hours, after which they are automatically destroyed. If you would like to retrieve them, contact the study inspector at the program you are working for.

If you have any technical difficulties during your class, three levels of tech support are available:
1) The HELP menu on the keyboard offers on-line information;
2) A student in your class has been trained to assist you and guide you in using HyFlex, don’t hesitate to ask for help.
3) If a problem persists, you can contact the IT DESK and 3) the TEACHING EMERGENCY service who will do their best to help you use the HyFlex system.

Don't forget your HDMI adapter before the course. After the course, don't forget to stop the broadcast with the STOP key on the control keyboard.
